dc.description.abstractLa investigación aborda los retos socioeconómicos y culturales de Puerto Rico, destacando el aumento del costo de vida que impulsa la inaccesibilidad a la vivienda y a la emigración, especialmente entre los jóvenes. Se analiza el concepto de 'desterritorialización', refiriéndose a la pérdida de espacios esenciales para la identidad puertorriqueña, exacerbada por influencias externas. Ante esto, se propone la tipología del 'batey' como una solución para recuperar espacios que refuercen la identidad cultural. El estudio analiza el papel histórico y contemporáneo del batey, su conexión con la desterritorialización y estrategias para fortalecer y consolidar los bateyes como espacios permanentes que promuevan la resiliencia cultural. Se explora cómo los bateyes pueden contrarrestar la desterritorialización, su transformación a lo largo de la historia y su relevancia actual, considerando su rol en respuesta al desplazamiento y como espacios de resistencia cultural.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe research addresses the socioeconomic and cultural challenges of Puerto Rico, highlighting the rising cost of living which drives inaccessibility to housing and leads to emigration, particularly among the youth. It examines the concept of 'deterritorialization', referring to the loss of essential spaces for Puerto Rican identity, exacerbated by external influences. In response, the typology of the 'batey' is proposed as a solution to reclaim spaces that reinforce cultural identity. The study analyzes the historical and contemporary role of the batey, its connection with deterritorialization, and strategies to strengthen and consolidate the bateyes as permanent spaces that promote cultural resilience. It explores how the bateyes can counteract deterritorialization, their transformation throughout history, and their current relevance, considering their role in response to displacement and as spaces of cultural resistance.en_US
