El concepto de ensimismamiento en la filosofía de Ortega
Abstract
El concepto de ensimismamiento tiene en Ortega diversos significados, pero todos ellos son reductibles a una definición fundamental, que es esta: atender al sí mismo tras desatender a “lo otro que yo”. Los diversos significados del término ensimismamiento provienen de los diferentes sentidos atribuidos a los vocablos "atender“ y "sí-mismo” "Atender" puede significar la contemplación o simple captación del “sí-mismo”. Pero también puede entenderse por ello el obrar conforme a “sí-mismo; caso en el cual ensimismamiento viene a ser sinónimo de autenticidad o (como prefiere el Dr. Rodríguez Huéscar) "simismizarse“. El término "si-mismo" tiene, básicamente, dos acepciones. En la primera es equivalente a intimidad o interioridad. En esta acepción, ensimismamiento viene a signífícar introversión o interiorización; es decir, desatender nuestro contorno exterior actual para dirigir la atención hacia nuestro mundo interior. Ahora bien, esa intimidad se halla constituida por imágenes e ideas. Así, interiorizamos nuestra atención para pensar o para imaginar. Por lo cual pensar e imaginar son modos de ensimismarnos.
