dc.description.abstract"The Gay Political City" is a translation of the first ten sections, and the beginning of the eleventh section, of the chapter “La ciudad política gay” in San Juan Gay: Conquista de un espacio urbano de 1948 a 1991 by Javier E. Laureano. In this chapter, the author summarizes the efforts of gay activists in Puerto Rico in areas such as politics, human rights, community building, and healthcare. Laureano also addresses the connection between United States and Puerto Rico, and how, after Stonewall, this association influenced gay organizations locally.en_US
