Esta tesis doctoral aborda el tema de lo fantástico y lo grotesco en la cuentística y en la arqueonovela de Marcio Veloz Maggiolo. Además, se presenta un contexto histórico-biográfico del autor y su país, con el propósito de entender, el entorno que le rodea. Los planteamientos teóricos incluyen en el campo de la fantástico a Tzvetan Todorov y Jaime Alazraki. Mientras que en lo grotesco se incluyen a Mijail Bajtín y Wolfgang Kayser. Los cuentos de Marcio Veloz Maggiolo que se analizan en esta investigación pertenecen a las siguiente obras: La fértil agonía del amor (1981), Cuentos, recuentos y casi cuentos (1986), Palabras de ida y vuelta (2006), Cuentos para otros milenios (1999), Los retornos del jefe (2009) y Novelas y relatos bíblicos (2010). Igualmente, se define el concepto de arqueonovela y se analizan las arqueonovelas: Florbella (Arqueonovela) (1986) y La mosca soldado (2004) a la luz del marco teórico. This doctoral thesis addresses the theme of the fantastic and the grotesque in the short story and in the archaeonovela of Marcio Veloz Maggiolo. In addition, a historical-biographical context of the author and his country is presented to understand the environment that surrounds him. Theoretical approaches include Tzvetan Todorov and Jaime Alazraki in the field of fantasy. While in the grotesque include Mikhail Bakhtin and Wolfgang Kayser. The stories of Marcio Veloz Maggiolo that are analyzed in this research belong to the following works: La fértil agonía del amor (1981), Cuentos, recuentos y casi cuentos (1986), Palabras de ida y vuelta (2006), Cuentos para otros milenios (1999), Los retornos del jefe (2009) y Novelas y relatos bíblicos (2010). Likewise, the concept of archaeonovel is defined and the archaenovels Florbella (Arqueonovela) (1986) and La mosca soldado (2004) are analyzed in the light of the theoretical framework.
