Abstract

This paper analyzes the contributions of Medtronic Juncos to healthcare innovation, focusing on Orlando Ramírez and the role of intelligent medical devices in diabetes care. Drawing on course webinar presentations, interview transcripts, company publications, and industry sources, the paper examines Puerto Rico's role in engineering, automation, quality systems, and scientific research within the global medical device industry. It also explores how information systems and technological innovation support the development of medical devices that improve patient care. Finally, the paper reflects on Puerto Rico's growing contribution to global healthcare technology and the importance of collaboration among science, engineering, and information professionals.
