Abstract
The project “La Ruta Violeta: A contemporary model of the Comedieta Universitaria from community feminism perspectives”, presents the necessity of creating theater practices from a feminist perspective. As an exercise of embodied cultural memory, it brings visibility to the cultural practice that was once the “Comedieta Universitaria”, the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras Drama Department’s experimental theater project with children from elementary schools that ceased to exist after director Victoria Espinosa’s withdrawal. Furthermore, from a cultural management point of view, this project reclaims the importance of creating theater practices for children from the public university in order to advocate for its social and communal commitment to Puerto Rico. This project uses feminist perspectives in theater to advocate for social justice and a culture of peace.
