Abstract
This master’s project evaluates the strategic communication efforts on social media by the newly established Museum of Natural History and Conservation of Puerto Rico in Aguadilla. From a critical communications perspective, it analyzes the development and implementation of graphic and audiovisual content specifically designed for the museum’s digital platforms. The research is grounded in the theory of cultural production, understanding advertising as a cultural product capable of influencing perception, access, and the consumption of cultural experiences. The project argues that by strategically positioning its educational and community offerings on social media, the museum not only strengthens its institutional presence but also expands its reach to the communities that benefit most from its educational and scientific mission. This proposal validates the use of advertising as a vital tool to promote equitable access to knowledge to a diverse sociodemographic profile, reinforce the connection between culture and community, and foster active participation in emerging learning spaces.
