Abstract
The Digital Archive of the University Studies Program for Confined Persons (PEUPPC) emerges as a necessary response to preserve, organize, and make visible a decade of educational work within the Puerto Rican penal system, safeguarding the institutional, pedagogical, and human memory of a project that, since 2014, has transformed lives through access to a rigorous and humanistic university education. Inspired by the liberatory principles of Fernando Picó and Paulo Freire, this archive is conceived as a tool of restorative justice that documents the trajectory of the Program, its achievements, its challenges, and the formative impact of its participants, many of whom have attained university degrees from within confinement. The methodological process of preservation and dissemination included the assessment, cataloging, and digitization of dispersed documents, rooted in ethical and deeply reflective postcustodial practices. This archive not only articulates a valuable collection but also consolidates itself as a space of public access, research, and living memory, recognizing the dignity of those who embrace knowledge as a path to transformation, and reaffirming the crucial role of the public university in contexts of exclusion.
