Abstract
The economic crisis in Puerto Rico has given way to the failure of the models of cultural policy that have been put in place by the island's government. We therefore take note of the cultural policy models that have been implemented by the Puerto Rican government, and we study the way in which the academic literature has commented the importance of alternative cultural policies in the ways of cultural agency and self management. We present cultural agency and self-management as alternatives to maintain and develop the potential of creative agents in the Island. This is a report on the foundation of the Centro para el desarrollo cultural, Inc.: A multi-disciplinary platform that will put in place various initiatives seeking to serve as a catalyst for the development of cultural industries and products through all of the stages of the value chain.
