Túario : A Pit Stop for Homeless Queer Youth in Puerto Rico

Abstract

This investigation looks at the night through the lense of homeless queer youth in Puerto Rico and their experiences in looking for refuge a er being kicked out of their homes by an unaccepting family. Queer homelessness can be expressed in many ways, wether that be having to live in a car, have a friend pick you up and couch surf or catch a ride to the nearest homeless shelter. Túario proposes a safe space with necesary ammenities for someone who needs immediate help, shelter and a place to stay the night. Due to the recent rise in hatecrimes in Puerto Rico having a safe space to turn to is a much needed resource.
