Towards an urbanism for adaptation : adapting coastal cities to climate change

Abstract

This work aimes to determine the form in which landscape design can provide solutions for adapting coastal ecosystems to the vul- nerabilities and risks projected by the scientific community. Along with formal solutions, this work also explores the role landscape design plays in the mitigation of anthropogenic effects onto coast- al infrastructures. Lastly, this work also investigates the way in which the application of the previously mentioned proposals may help raise awareness towards the value of the non human systems that form part of urban ecosystems.
