Acueducto: historia del agua en San Juan is a documented journey that covers half a millennium of the history of potable water in San Juan and recounts the lesser-known story of an intense relationship between the river, the city, and its people. This historical research provides insight into how our ancestors managed water resources and built an urban landscape accordingly. Overall, this book pays tribute to the designers and builders of the hydraulic infrastructure of San Juan and to those who participated over time in the aqueduct. It overcame challenges and marked the development of the infrastructure needed to overcome the precariousness that afflicted the country and the capital as the nineteenth century progressed. For our ancestors, its creation meant an alliance with the future. Acueducto encourages the reader to understand that potable water in an urban setting is a natural and physical necessity, as well as a symbol of the history of San Juan.
