Abstract

A translation from Spanish to English of a chapter of the book She Who Calls You Life by Daisy Sánchez Collazo. The book is a biography about the First Lady of Puerto Rico, Inés María Mendoza Rivera. The book is divided into three main chapters. My translation is from the second chapter, in which the author recounts when Inés and Luis Muñoz Marín met. The important events that happened during one of the most significant historical moments of the island during the elections of 1949. The uncommonly known story about the woman who stood beside one of the most recognized men in Puerto Rican history and a woman who had a great influence in many of the decisions made during Luis Muñoz Marín's term as governor.
