In the 21st century, internationalization has gained importance as a field of study. International Students (IS) are those students who aim to obtain a full academic degree at the host university to which they are admitted outside their home countries.
The University of Puerto Rico has a long history of offering experiences to EIs, with the Río Piedras Campus having the largest number of EIs and the faculties of Natural Sciences and Education leading the list of faculties that prefer EIs for do your studies. However, no research was found that provided information on the experiences of international mobility students in the Faculty of Education or in the Department of Graduate Studies of the Faculty of Education (DEG).
Therefore, this qualitative phenomenological study served to discover the lived experiences of five International Students graduated from the Faculty of Education. Its realization was based on the Emerging Theory of Glasser & Strauss (1998) and the Seidman technique of in-depth interviews was used, which is developed in three moments of the life of the participants. The information was collected, the experiences were described and the experiences of the students were compared.
The findings present aspects of the UPRRP to consider as a host of international mobility experiences, provided by the participants themselves and by the researcher. The students showed characteristics of resilience and made a call not to be made invisible. Among the suggested services are establishing links and contact in the Department of Graduate Studies of the Faculty of Education (DEG), the Auxiliary Dean of International Relations (DARI) and the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research (DEGI) to be able to help and guide these students. These types of actions in favor of international students are related to the proposal that the UPRRP adopt what Ledger & Kawalilak (2020) call Conscious Internationalization (CI), which consists of executing well-planned, ethical internationalization initiatives that deliberately seek the well-being and enrichment of the actors that are part of them, in the case of this research of international mobility students.
