In this work, I show the findings of the investigation and analysis of the state of affairs of digital terrestrial television (DTT), in Puerto Rico, more than two years after Hurricane Maria. The analysis was framed by the studies of political economy studies of the media and evaluated the distribution, production and consumption of digital terrestrial television. The investigation yielded an x-ray of the current state, as of 2020, of Puerto Rican DTT. In addition, the impact of the destruction of the WAPA TV transmission tower (channel 4) with the passage of Hurricane Maria and the long-term distribution agreement of its signal with its main competitor in production and consumption WKAQ-TV, Telemundo PR (channel 2) were analyzed. The analysis showed that the agreement does not prevent the evolution of DTT in Puerto Rico to the next television standard, known as NextGen TV.
